PS：舌边爆破我怎么练都不知道发对没有。。。录音里有个immediately，好像还是没发对。守住舌尖不动，我怎么就发不出呢。。。

Lesson 11 One good turn deserves another

I was having dinner at a restaurant when Tony Steele came in. Tony worked in a lawyer's office years ago, but he is now working at a bank. He gets a good salary, but he always borrows money from his friends and never pays it back. Tony saw me and came and sat at the same table. He has never borrowed money from me. While he was eating, I asked him to lend me ￡20. To my surprise, he gave me the money immediately. 'I have never borrowed any money from you,' Tony said, 'so now you can pay for my dinner!'

点评如下：

• in a lawyer's office： 【我们可以弱读一个元音，但不应该吃掉它。尤其是当这个元音是一个独立单词的时候。】
• pays it back：【浊音/ z /未能听出。/ t /未能失去爆破。看来 it 是个问题，请着意加强之。】
• sat at the same table：【at可弱读，但应能听出。】
• asked him：【/ t / 未能听出。后面是 / him /时，具备连读条件，而不应失去爆破。】
• ￡20：【twenty不太好读。因为一般的辅音都比 / w /开口大，所以带 / w / 的辅音连缀的口型变化都比较大。如 twelve, dwell, question, request。后面两个可能不明显，最容易出现偏差的是 /tw/ 和 /dw/。你今后注意听VOA 的 twenty 和 twelve 就知道了。】

PS：我感到发音正确好难，英美人发音的这些规则本来是求省力方便，可是我却越发越难。有时候感到出口就错，都不敢说英语了。

前面提到的问题感觉好多了，twenty 很有些味道，sat at the same table 的 at 还可再突出些。
dinner at a restaurant 【at 念成了as  ——越是小品词，越要小心。】

restaurant 有英美音差别，用前面教你的方法寻找实例进行模仿。
immediately 也查查。


一开始可以模仿原声语调，逐步可过渡到根据对句子的把握自己读出正确的重音。
读得慢的时候，不必刻意发音模糊。不妨清楚地读出，体会其轻重区别，快读时让连读和弱读自然形成。记住，重音是英语发音的重中之重！

可以叫我老师，因为这是我的标准称呼。下次别把我名字写错就好。双写的 cc 和单个的 c 发音不同的。
